1141  Elbaite Palelni Mine, Molo Village, Momeik Township, Kyaukme District, Shan State, Burma miniature 4.8 x 3.2 x 3.4 cm ex. Bill Larson This is a luscious, deep raspberry pink, "mushroom cap" Tourmaline from Burma from the Palelni pegmatite mine, a classic old tourmaline discovery of the 1990s. These uncommon, stylish Elbaite crystals exhibit a distinct form with a larger, barely discernible crystal in the center with numerous, divergent, crystals tightly packed, in parallel growth against it. These have an ethereal translucency to them with their raspberry pink exterior and a darker ghostly interior for added effect. An attenuated triangular shape is evident looking down the c-axis which is also unique to these. This one also displays an overall satin luster with the thin, parallel, component prisms having a higher luster resulting in a fan-like scintillation along the length of the crystal.
