154  Rhodochrosite Wolf Mine, Herdorf, Betzdorf, Siegerland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany thumbnail 3 x 2.5 x 1.6 cm Rob: WOW! This is THE classic old European locality for rhodochrosite and is certainly at least 100 years old, if not 200. It is unusually rich in crystallization and in fact features 2 entirely different habits of rhodochrosite formed in subsequent generations of growth. It is as cute an example as any I have seen, especially without costing a fortune. Specimens from this old locality are virtually unobtainable. ----- Photos courtesy of / ©2004 The Arkenstone
