576 Rhodochrosite Stalactites Burgin Mine, East Tintic District, East Tintic Mts, Utah Co., Utah, United States large-cabinet 19.5 x 6 x 4.5 cm ex. Nancy Collins collection This is definitely the finest Utah rhodochrosite specimen I'm aware of. Pale rosy flattened rhombohedral crystals of rhodochrosite thickly coat 2-cm cores of solid brown-red rhodo with banding evident. I have to wonder whether this was part of the find made by Cliff Dilbert in 1975? (see specimens 322 and 323). ----- Photos ©2006 Richard Geiger
