Deaccessed 64  Cobaltian Calcite Aghbar Mine (Arhbar Mine), Bou Azzer, Anti-Atlas Mts, Morocco small-cabinet 7 x 4.8 x 2.1 cm Pat's description: Cobaltian calcite is a relatively rare mineral. Cobalt colors the calcite and renders it in an amazing array of pink shades. This wonderful specimen features a cotton candy pink botryoidal flow of colbaltian calcite over matrix. The layer is almost a full eighth of an inch thick, which can easily be seen on the back of the specimen. The back also features a small vug filled with cobaltian calcite crystals and a wine red sliver of erythrite. This specimen is from a lot I just acquired from the Arhbar Mine in Bou Azzer, Morocco. It has by far the pinkest and most intense color of the six specimens. You won't see many like this, with such a pleasing combination of color and both the botryoidal and crystalline form all in one specimen. ----- Photos courtesy of / ©2004 Patricia B.
