722  Quartz var. Smokey (Scepter) Krystal Tips claims, Petersen Mountain (Hallelujah Junction), Washoe Co., Nevada, United States thumbnail Collected by my daughter Lani Geiger, May 30, 2007 We believe that the irregularity at the tip was due to disrupted growth (rather than caused by damage). Lani recalls that this plate was collected 'blind' in the pocket - too deep to see at all, so she was operating in by-feel mode, only. If anyone else had pulled it out, it would have immediately been announced to all those digging nearby; but Lani quietly just set it into her flat and continued collecting the pocket. I am told that Eric did quite a double take when he walked by and noticed it sitting there! While this locality produces good scepters in relative (for scepters!) profusion, I understand that good matrix scepters are few and far between. At the point that this came out, midway through the dig, it was deemed second best of the dig. - ----- photos courtesy of/©2007 Cascade Scepters label Mineral Occurances
