958 Calcite with Quartz Jalgaon District, Maharashtra, India small-cabinet 6.3 x 5 x 3 cm Heritage Auctions #6008, which closed on September 29, 2008, was a sale of specimens in the collection of Daniel Trinchillo, Sr. Following the close of the auction, Rob Lavinsky purchased the entire remainder of specimens that did not sell in the auction. He had many of these at his private showing sale in Emeryville in November, 2009, and this was one of them. My delving into Calcites seems to be progressing herewith; Carbonates do Rule, after all, and this specimen is an example of why: The combination of sharp crystal form, beautiful soft-matte luster, subtle yellow color, internal clarity, and penetration twinning of the two smaller Calcite crystals, topped off by the accent of sugary stalactitic Quartz on one side... well I can't resist all that...
